A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

- Antoine de Saint-Exup'ery

Inside these web pages you’ll find some interesting things to look at and, I hope, a story to tell. Mainly I want to show you my work. It’s the thing I’m most passionate about next to my family.

For a look at my latest design work, please see the portfolio section. The music section has some of my latest test mixes which are constantly evolving, but I welcome your feedback as I continue the writing process. Contact info, resume, links, and a resource library of favorite books and articles are all in the info section. My blog is definitely of a more personal nature but I don't mind sharing it with you.

Drop me a line if you need anything, and thanks for stopping by.

Pennies Are Money • 10-3-08

A few people have asked for more tracks, so I've decided to make a compilation of early recordings here. It's pretty uneven stylistically, since the songs were all written at very different periods of my life and some are more guitar based while others are soundtracky or experimental... of course I haven't mastered any of the tracks, so program volume may vary. I hope you enjoy them.

Cost of Living • 12-6-06

This is my uncompleted album Cost of Living, unmastered and unmixed. You can download it for your iPod here. It's never coming out officially as I have since moved on to other projects and I don't have the time to finish it. I'd like to dedicate the work to the memory of James Kim, who was a friend and colleague of mine. We had the love of music in common. James had given me his review copy of the Native Instruments software sampler Kontakt a few years ago, which was used on some of the recordings. It seems fitting to let it out into the world now. Rest in Peace, James.

Hi Baby • 7-8-05

This song was composed entirely of junk on my hard drive. Sometimes it's fun to finger paint.

PTSR_Strings_Study_v1 • 6-18-05

My first rough of this song with violin & cello added. No compression or EQ on any of the parts, just raw until it's done being arranged. Too many parts, all of them good - now how to stack the bricks? - more like collage art then music at this stage. ptsr_stringsmix mp3 >

DSR Internet Radio is Live • 2-15-05

As other things took presidence, I abandoned this project awhile back. Thanks to Nicecast's brilliant software, I managed to get it back up and running. Note that the server itself isn't up 24/7, so please try back later if you can't connect.

Come Correct • 2-1-05

I wrote this song in a few hours last night and it's a near perfect arrangement right off the bat, which is rare. The drums need work and there are no vocals yet. I haven't begun the mixing stage, but you can hear it in the raw because chances are, I'm going to mangle it in the next pass. Come Correct mp3 >

Flash Slideshow Added • 1-17-05

I've created an XML/Flash slideshow viewer for those interested in seeing pictures of my kid, my girlfriend, my music studio, my dog, and all the other various sundry dry goods I've accumulated in 33 years of life on earth. I will be posting more slideshows as time permits. Probably more then you have time for. Go to dsrfoto >

Site Update • 7-18-04

In between getting the meat and potato features up and running on my site, I've been having a bit of fun with a PHP script that randomizes the front door splash screen image. I think this is a nice way to feature new content that doesn't neccesarily have a place anywhere else. Hit reload on the front door and check it out!

Backyard Photography Break • 7-16-04

There's a dove's nest in our backyard which we've been privileged to observe these last few months. Today I went and took pictures, though I was late grabbing the camera and mom came back before I could snap a rare instance of the 2 babes by themselves. No doubt mom was off getting food and wasn't gone long. The dad might have been off fighting battles, or womanizing even. Getting this snap was a huge ordeal which involved climbing a tall fence and standing on a surface of about 3 inches wide in a precursor to what could have easily been a Darwin Awards moment, while Alison spotted me from behind, making sure I didn't fall what looked to be a long way down. Alison calls the dove babies 'the bubbins'. The mom was giving me the evil eye, with me shaking like a bad elvis, wooden fence creaking and threatening to make me a cartoon failure of epic proportions. Perhaps I'm exaggerating. I'm a big fool for nature - here's the shot.

Posttraumaticstressrecorder• 6-23-04

Posttraumaticstressrecorder is one of my older songs, one of the few I'm actually proud of, but I have always thought some of the samples needed to be replaced with real instruments. I'm working with Dan Cantrell of the Toids, who is scoring some parts for Cello and Violin. It's in production as I write this and soon I will finally have something finished to play for you. Everything up to this point has been sketches. It's a relatively quick thing to have an idea, but 4 years have gone by with this song percolating on my hard drive. I can't wait to finally hear it with my ears as it was all along in my head.
